  • Lionel Bentolila – President and Chief Executive Officer

    Lionel Bentolila is President and Chief Executive Officer of Aldea Solutions. Lionel is an entrepreneur and expert in fiber optic systems and video transmission over fiber, having founded and led AldeaVision Network Systems, one of the predecessors of today’s Aldea Solutions, as well as Nexfotel, a manufacturer of SONET/SDH systems for the access network. Nexfotel merged with ABL Canada in 1992, and Lionel went on to hold senior management positions in engineering and product management with ABL. Previously, Lionel led hardware and software development for Consortel, a startup developing fiber to the home (FTTH) systems, after establishing his telecommunications career at Nortel Network’s research and development labs. Lionel received his engineering degree from L’Ecole Centrale de Paris, France in 1982, and his MBA from McGill University in Montreal.


    Eddy Barsetti, P. Eng – Vice-President, Global Marketing

    Eddy Barsetti is an experienced telecom marketing executive with a 26-year international career. As Aldea’s Vice-President, Global Marketing, Eddy is responsible for developing Aldea’s service offerings, managing the company’s global interconnection programs and partnerships, and leading expansion into new market segments. Before joining Aldea, he led and managed multiple marketing and service development teams during a career with Bell Canada, Teleglobe Canada, Stratos Mobile Networks, and Goulet Telecom International. Highlights of Eddy’s international career include being the co-founder and initial Chairman of the Intelsat Working Group on Broadcast Services; acting as Canada’s representative to the Board of Governors of Inmarsat; and leading marketing and telecom consulting projects in South America, Canada, and Africa. Eddy holds a Bachelor of Engineering. (Electrical) degree from Concordia University (Montreal), a Graduate Diploma in Applied Management from McGill University, and is a professional engineer in the province of Quebec.



    Juan-Felipe Gonzalez – Vice-President of Global Sales

    Juan Felipe Gonzalez joined Aldea in October 2008 as Vice-President of Global Sales. Juan Felipe is responsible for directing the global sales force and developing sales strategies worldwide. Prior to joining Aldea, Juan Felipe was Senior Vice-President Sales and Marketing for Aethera Networks. Previously, Juan Felipe spent 15 years at EXFO, during a career which culminated with him being appointed Vice-President, Global Telecom Sales from 2003 to 2007. At EXFO he was responsible for sales in the telecom sector worldwide and managed a team of 80 employees and over 70 distributors. Prior to joining EXFO, Juan Felipe held sales and marketing positions at various organizations in Spain including Reyde S.A and Dow Chemical S.A. Juan holds a B.Sc. Honors in Chemistry from Complutense University, Madrid, as well as an MBA from the School of Industrial Organization in Madrid.



    Karen McCone – Vice-President, Occasional Use/Customer Service

    Karen McCone joined Aldea in January 2009, bringing to the company years of experience as an executive in the broadcast and telecom sectors. In her present role, Karen ensures that Aldea’s occasional use clients receive outstanding personalized service, and that customers’ transmissions over Aldea’s network are the most reliable in the industry. Prior to joining Aldea, Karen was Vice-President of Broadcast Services at Invidex Inc, leading sales and operations for broadcast services, and Vice-President of Program Management at Kangaroo TV, heading up program management for the NFL and PGA TOUR events. Prior to moving into the broadcast industry, Karen held senior positions in the mobile wireless industry with Microcell (Fido), one of Canada’s most innovative mobile operators.



    Evans Castonguay - Director of Software Development & Systems

    As Director of Software Development and Systems, Evans Castonguay leads Aldea’ software and IT teams and oversees development of Aldea’s network management software and specialized business process software for the video broadcast industry. With 12 years of experience in Software Development and IT, Evans has as an extensive background in management information systems with global leaders including Ericsson and IBM. While at IBM, Evans developed patented technology later used by IBM’s Deep Blue supercomputer, and received the IBM Netfinity Cluster and Solution Development Award. In addition, he has played key software development roles for a number of smaller organizations including Invidex, Ryma, RD6 and Okiok Data. Evans holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Sherbrooke.




    Michel Coté, P. Eng. - Director, Network Engineering

    Michel Coté joined Aldea in February 2009, becoming the guiding force for the evolution of Aldea’s network. Michel has over 30 years of experience in telecommunications, having established his credential during a 20-year career with Bell Canada. Immediately prior to joining Aldea, Michel was the Operations Director for the Réseau de l’Information Scientifique du Québec (RISQ), the premier telecommunications carrier for research and education institutions in Quebec. From 2002 to 2006, Michel worked as a consulting engineer for some of the most important clients in Canada, including the Caisse de Depot et Placement du Québec (The Caisse) and Desjardins Investments. Previously, he was Vice-President at CDP Capital Communications, responsible for evaluating investments in the telecom sector. Michel also held several senior positions with Nortel Europe, including Director of Operations and Director of Development and Sales Support for continental Europe and North Africa. Michel holds an engineering degree from Laval University, as well as an EMBA from the Centre International de Recherches et D’etudes en Management (CIREM), part of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales de Montreal (HEC Montreal). He is a professional engineer in the province of Quebec.



    Daniel Gonzalez, Director of Corporate Projects

    Daniel Gonzalez is Director of Corporate Projects for Aldea, and is responsible for the expansion of Aldea’s video services in Mexico. Daniel has more than 20 years of experience in sales and marketing for the IT and telecommunications markets. Prior to joining Aldea, Daniel spent eight years as Vice-President of Sales and Marketing at Aldea’s parent company, Marcatel. At Marcatel he drove the growth of the telecommunications business unit in Mexico. From 1995 to 2001 he was Regional Manager for Anixter, a leading international distributor of telecommunications infrastructure equipment, and was responsible for commercial operations in the north of Mexico. Daniel’s previous roles included account manager and process reengineering consultant. He also taught computer science at The Instituto Tecnologico of Monterrey (ITESM), where he had previously earned a BS in electronic engineering with honors. In 1997, Daniel completed an executive management program at the IPADE business school in Monterrey.

    Service Description
    A permanent service consists of a point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, or multipoint-to-point link that is available for video traffic 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Aldea furnishes complete solutions, including (as required): encoding and decoding equipment, standards conversion, transport equipment, switching, as well as the actual video and data links.

    To ensure the highest levels of broadcast reliability, all permanent video services on Aldea’s network are monitored continuously from our Network Management Center.
